F1 Sim Install, Gaming Point: Manchester Airport

A new game zone has opened up at Manchester Airport's Terminal 1 complete with a virtual reality escape room, multiple gaming zones and a Formula 1 simulator, which was supplied and installed by us! Gaming Point is the first of its kind to be launched at a UK airport, providing passengers with immersive entertainment while they wait to board their flight.

Located in the heart of Terminal 1's departure lounge, it's essentially a modern take on the traditional arcade, allowing users to jump into familiar games such as Fortnite or Red Dead Redemption but also offering the unfamiliar in terms of our high-end F1 Sim or the VR escape experience.

It’s not just for kids, as players of all ages can take part, although there are some restrictions for certain games. Prices for a gaming session start from just £7.50 for 30 minutes and it's a great way to kill time while waiting for your holiday to begin. Available to passengers flying out of Terminal 1, it can be booked online in advance, although walk-ins are accepted if there’s availability.

As any gamer will know, time flies when you're immersed in your virtual world and for those who have time to kill at the airport it really is a fabulous way to pass the time.

Inside, you’re given a headset to put on along with two controllers for your hands. As the game begins, the room is transformed before your eyes - in our case a spaceship - and you’re suddenly in a different world.

The F1 simulator features pro-spec components from industry leaders such as Simucube 2 Pro direct drive wheelbase, Cube Controls F-Pro wheel and Heusinkveld pedals.

The sim runs the latest gen RSS hybrid F1 cars on Assetto Corsa. By default you can race on Silverstone or Spa and choose your level of assists. You can also choose whether you want to hotlap or take part in an AI race, depending on how long your session is.

In time there will be a Top Gear style leader board so if you're flying out of Manchester and fancy your chances at claiming that top position, be sure to book a session!

It’s the first time Gaming Point has opened at a UK airport, with Manchester leading the way in entertainment for passengers. Graeme Stewart, director of Gaming Point, said: “I am thrilled to open Gaming Point at Manchester Airport , it's a first-of-its-kind for UK airports and a concept that truly provides a fun, and innovative experience for passengers to enjoy in Terminal 1.

“Excitingly, with the range of gaming options we have, there is something for every type of gamer. Our innovative space is designed to transform the time before boarding into an exciting part of the travel experience and giving passengers the chance to try something they’ve never experienced.

In time, the aim is to role out the Gaming Point experience at other airports.”

You can book a session at Gaming Point here. Alternatively walk-ins are welcome, subject to availability.
